Nata di marzo offers a changing Milano, where modernity, the capital of il boom, il benessere economico, transformed the previous town into a big, modern, grey city. They are making the Pirelli skycrapper. This building is the symbol of that transformation, the wealth of the new Italian economy, that as Elio Petri wrote, that wealth was fake, a façade, Italy remained a peasant country.
The film is not Pietrangeli's best. Ettore Scola participate in the multi writer script work. This is not commedia all'italiana yet, this is not ever more Neorealismo rossa. It's a small comedy - drama about a very young girl who marries too early.
Iconic French Jacqueline Sassard made 3 important Italian films: il magistrato (Zampa), the famous Guendalina (Lattuada) and this one.
Her stylish, fragile, very young figure, her outfits, all are very Audrey Herpburnesque.
It deserves to be watched.
